Message from the Chair
Dear Members and Friends of the Rotary Club of Ala Moana,
I wish to thank you all for your generous contributions to Polio Plus last Rotary year, 2023-24.  Our club won the first place award in our District for Large Clubs Polio Plus giving.  That is huge!
And then again this year with your continued support in giving to our End Polio Now bike ride fundraiser.  Our goal was $5,000 and we have surpassed $6,000.  With The Gates Foundation match that is $18,000 plus to save the children from polio.  Thank you so much.

NOVEMBER IS FOUNDATION MONTH
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is one of the highest praised Charitable Foundations in the country.  It has received the highest 4 Stary Rating from Charity Navigator for the past consecutive 16 years. “Our Foundation”, as it is referred to, is a great place to put your money when you want it to go to the actual project you support.  Reports show that 91% of the funds goes to the project with only 9% for overhead.  What business do you know has those kinds of numbers?
TRF has many facets and supports many areas of focus in the world today.

Here is an interesting piece of information:  In the Rotary Club of Ala Moana (RCAM) , when we say donate to TRF, it is almost synonymous with Annual Fund-SHARE.  This is because when we donate to TRF, the money goes directly to the Annual Fund-SHARE pot, unless otherwise directed. However, when you make your donation, you CAN  state on your donation that you want it to go to a specific Area of Focus within the Foundation.  This is why when you donate to Polio Plus, you make out your check to The Rotary Foundation and put Polio Plus, the specific Area of Focus, in the Memo line of your check.

Most of us, in our club contribute to TRF with donations to ANNUAL FUND-SHARE or direct it to POLIO PLUS.  Both of these funds hold great importance to us.
With a donation to ANNUAL FUND-SHARE, remember that a large portion of your donation comes back to our club by way of our District, three years later and we depend on that money to fund our Local and Global projects.  The more we give, the more money comes back to our club.

When we give a donation to POLIO PLUS, that money goes to fund Rotary’s primary initiative to eradicate polio globally. Rotary committed to this campaign in 1985 following the success in eradicating polio in the Philippines.  We commonly refer to this campaign as END POLIO NOW.

You can contribute to TRF on your Semi-annual Dues Statement from our club treasurer in July and January, or with Happy Dollars, or using your Rotary Direct account, or by establishing a Charitable Trust.   You can make TRF a beneficiary of your life insurance or retirement plan in your will.
You can also just Google “rotary donate” and donate online.
Finally, you can make out a check to TRF and give it to our Foundation Chair.
