Prospective Speech Festival Judges are needed for the 34th Annual Texaco Honolulu District Elementary Speech Festival on Saturday, April 5, 2025, 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at McKinley High School Campus.
The 2024 Speech Festival comprised over 350 students from 34+ of our district’s elementary schools. There are plans to have more students participating this year and as such, they will need a large number of judges yet again. The success of the Speech Festival for thirty-three years is possible because of the many volunteers from the district and school levels and from our community organizations and businesses.
The speech festival gives students the opportunity to practice and showcase their public speaking skills. Students memorize a reading and will recite it in front of the judges. Using a rubric, judges will evaluate students on pronunciation, eye contact, volume, etc.
Each Honolulu District Elementary school can send 15 students. There are different categories: Poetry, Choral Reading, Story Passage, etc. At the end of the speech festival, all students participate in an awards assembly for their hard work.
Please use this 2025 Speech Festival Judges (Google Form) if you are interested in volunteering to be a judge for the 2025 Honolulu District Speech Festival. Also, please let Lani Paet (Club PE and Community Service Chair) know that you have submitted a form HERE.
