The Arts in Hawaii

Kip Wilborn has enjoyed a career as a leading tenor with opera companies and symphonies around the world including Paris, Berlin, Vienna, London, New York, and San Francisco. He has also enjoyed success in film and music theater, starring as Sam Kaplan in the musical film of Kurt Weill’s "Street Scene," which was awarded the "Best Musical Film" award at the International Wide Screen Awards in Amsterdam. 

 

On the music theater stage, he starred as Ravenal, Raoul, and Phantom in the Hal Prince productions of “Showboat” and “Phantom of the Opera”. His solo CD, “Be My Love,” with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, garnered a "Best New Artist" nomination from the International Surround Music Awards. He has performed many times with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and the Hawaii Opera Theatre.

 

In 2017, he made his debut at the Blue Note. He was Music Director for the historic Hawaii premiere of “Allegiance” at the Hawaii Theatre Center. Currently he is the Executive Director of Manoa Valley Theater.
